CELT Athens

CELT Athens was founded in 1993 and is an established Teacher Education in Greece widely known for its role and contribution to the improvement of Foreign Language Education in this country. To date, it has trained more that2,500 Foreign Language teachers, directors of studies and administrators and has worked with the private as well as the state school sector.

CELT trainees come from many countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, S.Africa and more) as well as from Greece. They come to CELT to start or refresh their teaching career and many are currently hold posts in Greece or Overseas. CELT Athens is primarily a TEFL training centre dedicated to teacher development and to the pursuit of excellence in foreign language education both in the private as well as the public sector and is committed to a policy of equal opportunities

Centre Activities

TEFL Courses – Teacher Training & Development for TEFL teachers as well as teachers of other modern languages (Spanish, French, Italian, etc.) These courses include our own Certificate level course as well as a range of other courses, from English for English Language Teachers & Grammar for English Language Teachers preparatory programmes for TEFL teachers to the post-graduate Cambridge DELTA Diploma.

Modern Greek Language & Culture

CELT offers general and Business Greek courses organised mainly in Athens; every summer, a two-week immersion course is organised on a Greek island. Click here for more information, levels, dates and tuition.

English for Adults

CELT Athens is a specialist centre in teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults. We offer a wide variety of tailor made programmes for companies and individuals. Click here for information on our one-to-one course and on our Corporate courses.

We also offer group courses for general English which are usually free of charge and are organized so that our trainee teachers of Adults can complete their Teaching Practicums during their Cambridge CELTA and DELTA courses.

Distance Diploma in Translation

If you would like to obtain the internationally recognized Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation click above; our preparation courses for the Chartered Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation can be taken over one or two years, but you can also follow shorter courses, either at introductory level or tailor-made to suit translation jobs in specialist areas.

Authorisations – Recognitions – Affiliations

The following Official Examination Boards include CELT Athens in their authorised course listings. CELT has the right to offer their programmes and administer their examinations.

The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate – ESOL Examinations CELT is an Authorised Teaching Awards Centre and is given CELT Athens approval to run the following Cambridge Teaching Awards: the Cambridge  CELTA and  the CambridgeDELTA Diploma courses for Teachers of English of adults as well as to administer their examinations. The London Institute of Linguists, has included CELT Athens in their list of Registered Centres offering Translation courses from English to Greek and Greek into English. In 2003 CELT Athens also became an Examination Centre for the Diploma in Translation (for any language pair).
